My Father My Friend

My Father, My Friend

So many years have passed us by
Fond memories are still with me
Thinking of yesterday with love
The way it use to be.

As a child I took much for granted
I know sacrifices you made
The exceptional roll model you presented me
The wonderful pattern you laid.

The many things we did together
The talks linger with me still
Now that I have children of my own
Your example I'm trying to fill.

I want my children to experience
Happiness and feelings of love
That you so unselfishly gave me
And the teachings of our Lord above.

Dad if I live to be a hundred
I'll be thankful in every way
For the happy life you gave me
And the love you show me today.

Happy Fathers Day!
