Today dear Lord I'm 80

I need more time for fun

Dear Lord I hope you let me live

Until I'm 81.

By then, if I haven't finished

Doing what I want to do

Could I stay a little longer?

Maybe until I'm 82.

So many places yet to go

So much I want to see

Could I have a wee bit more time

Say until I'm 83.

Things are changing very fast

No time to close the door

I sure would like to make it

Until I'm 84.

Next year will soon be upon us

So if I'm still alive

Do you think you could give me one more year?

Could I stay until 85?

So much I have to plan for

Things I would like to fix

I'd like to hang around you see

Until I'm 86.

I know it is a lot to ask

And I'm sure it's nice in Heaven

But I sure would like to stay a while

Say, until I'm 87.

I know my motor will then slow down

And maybe always be late

Yet it would be oh so pleasant

To be alive at 88.

I've truly seen so many things

Enjoyed a wonderful time

I sure would like to make it

Until I'm 89.

One thing more I'd like to say

I thank you Lord most kindly

And if it's okay with you

I'd like to live past 90.
