Remembering the happy days gone by

So carefree and so gay

Dressing up and performing

The better part of every day.

The old barn was our theater

And the stage was decorated too

A penny we charged to sit on a box

We were movie stars me and you.

Old clothes our parents discarded

Our talent was dancing and singing

Our parents and friends would watch us

Not realizing the joy we were bringing.

Kool aid refreshment of the day

When we took our final bow

The clapping meant so much to us

When I think about that special time now.

We entertained ourselves back then

Made do with things we had

Electronic toys unheard of

And that was not so bad.

Making believe was a lot of fun

Money was scarce you know?

The memories I have from way back them

Will be with me where ever I go.
