Do you know how much I loved you

Do you know how much I cared

The life we lived together

We never truly shared.

The nights you left me hurting

The bruises I tried to hide

You broke my spirit and laughed at me

As I  stood alone and cried.

Physical abuse you inflicted

I withstood the hurt and shame

But your words were tormenting

They were the ultimate pain.

What did I do to deserve what I got

I loved you with all my heart

You treated me with disgusted hate

You did that right from the start.

Yes, you broke my spirit

I hope you are happy now

But I am a survivor

With God's help I'll make it somehow.
